Veterinarians

Dr. Steve Slack-Smith

Dr. Steve Slack-Smith

Veterinarian/ Partner

Graduating from Sydney University in 1994, Steve worked in mixed practices Quirindi, Aryshire, Surrey and Hampshire. On returning to Australia he worked in an equine practice in the Southern Highlands for 4 years. Before returning to England in 2001 for the English Foot and Mouth outbreak. He has a strong commitment to the clientèle and pets in Mudgee and has been here since 2002 as a mixed animal Vet. ​Outside of MVH, Steve's keen interests are ocean swimming and dabbling in short course triathlons. Steve was president of Mudgee Swimming Club for 7 years. He is also a loving father of 3 children

Dr. Paige Loneragan

Dr. Paige Loneragan

Veterinarian/ Partner

Paige graduated from Sydney University in 2005. Paige's first job was at Coolah Veterinary Clinic, which is mixed animal practice with a large proportion of cattle work. Paige is an extremely capable large animal vet who enjoys the full range of a mixed practice. ​Paige loves raising her two boys in the country setting here and is a huge supporter of the Mudgee Region Community.

Kate graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2014. Kate grew up on a livestock and cropping property in the Narromine district. She is passionate about providing first-class, compassionate care for her patients, working closely with the patient’s owners to deliver the best outcome for everyone. Along with renovating her house, looking after her Corgi's and competing in triathlon's, she is delightfully devoted to her two children Dixie and Angus.

Jack started with us in 2018, after graduating from Charles Sturt University. Jack has a particular interest in horse work and thoroughly enjoys small and large animal surgery. When not at work, he is a keen horseman and enjoys breeding and training his horses. He also spends time helping out on the family cattle farm near Orange. Jack also loves spending time with his wife and their new baby, and going on adventures with their dogs, Peggy and Flo.

Dr. Jessica Butt

Veterinarian

Jess grew up on a mixed cropping and livestock property west of Condobolin. After completing year 12 Jess spent twelve months in the US and Europe working in the equine industry. Upon her return Jess attended CSU where she completed her studies to become a Vet. During her time at CSU Jess was fortunate enough to travel through Northern Australia attending placements. ​Jess has a keen interest in all things equine, particularly lameness and reproduction. Jess also enjoys spending time in the clinic especially small animal surgeries. On her days off Jess enjoys sporting, campdrafting and values a good beer.

Dr. Genevieve Leibich

Dr. Genevieve Liebich

Veterinarian

Genevieve graduated with Honours from the University of Queensland in 2012. She has immersed herself in mixed rural practice in the Central West of NSW, including Orange, Forbes and Condobolin for the past 10 years. In addition to her Veterinary Degree, Genevieve is also a qualified Human Physiotherapist and Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist. She is proud to be one of only a handful of people in the world with dual degrees in Veterinary Medicine and Physiotherapy. With that she brings a vast range of experience and knowledge in the area of small animal rehabilitation to Mudgee Vet Hospital. She also has keen interests in small animal medicine and surgery. Born and raised in South Africa, she enjoys regular trips back to her homeland where she actively engages in wildlife conservation. When she is not at MVH, Genevieve can be found spending time with her toddler, Zoe, her 2 dogs, Billie and Bailey and her one-eyed cat, Sophie.

Anne Leonard

Anne Leonard

Veterinary Nurse

Annie first started working for Mudgee Veterinary Hospital in 1984 and you will see her smiling face at our Gulgong Branch. She currently has a Certificate II in Veterinary Nursing and has attended many animal behavioural courses. Annie is an active breeder of Kelpies (King Hayes Kelpie Stud) and Miniature Daschunds and is involved with sheep dog trials. Living just outside of Gulgong, Annie also runs sheep which help in training her dogs. Annie enjoys spending time at the beach whilst on holidays and a cheeky glass of Scotch.

Gloria Mills

Veterinary Nurse

Gloria started working at Mudgee Veterinary Hospital in 1985 and has a certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is also involved in teaching at our Puppy Preschool classes. Living near Lue on her family farm, Gloria has a zoo of animals from ferrets, birds and pet sheep to her horses and dogs. She brings her love and care of animals to work each day. Gloria's other interests include cooking and endurance riding, where she has won and had the fittest horse many times.

Lisa Brennan

Veterinary Nurse

Lisa has been working at Mudgee Veterinary Hospital since 2000, and previously in the Blue Mountains and Cootamundra. Lisa holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, also continuing her study to achieve her registration and AVNAT accreditaion in Veterinary Nursing. Lisa is focused on all aspects of small animal veterinary care, with a keen interest in surgery, ranging for paediatrics to orthopaedics. You know your pet will be in good hands when Lisa is around.

Martina Debrovsky

Martina came to Mudgee Veterinary Hospital in 2004. Martina had been working as a Veterinary Nurse in Sydney and on the Gold Coast, specialising in small animals and also working in Accident & Emergency After-Hours (specialising in critical care) at "Pet Doctors" Robina. Martina has a certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, and owns a Jack Russell "Jo-Jo" and a cat named "Bill Bailey Loxley". Martina enjoys bike riding and shopping her spare time.

Donna Croake

Veterinary Nurse

Donna joined the Mudgee Veterinary Hospital team in 2005, gaining her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing soon after. Donna was accepted into the AVNAT registration scheme in 2019, becoming a registered Veterinary Nurse. This shows her commitment to the profession and means she has agreed to abide by the rules of the scheme and undertake continuing professional development. Growing up at Cudgeegong and remaining on the land, Donna has a lifetime of experience raising and treating animals. She brings this knowledge and enthusiam to work, enjoying that every day is different at Mudgee Vet Hospital. When not at work, Donna enjoys baking, camping, bush walking, spending time with the grandkids and travelling. Her love of dogs, of which she has many, means there's almost always one by her side.

Jan Stanley

Veterinary Nurse

Jan started working for Mudgee Veterinary Hospital in 2005, having completed a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. During this time she has enjoyed caring for all animals and building relationships with clients. She has been involved in puppy training and educating their owners with our puppy preschool classes, since 2005. Jan is a Mudgee local, having grown up on a farm surrounded by animals. In her spare time, Jan enjoys walking her dogs, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

Head Nurse

Ellen started working at Mudgee Veterinary Hospital in 2006 after completing her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing at Kurri Kurri Tafe. Ellen is a local who grew up in Gulgong, and now raising her young family in Mudgee. She enjoys going to the gym, riding her bike and anything to do with outdoors and fitness.

Jamie Dover

Veterinary Nurse

Jamie joined us in late 2019 as a animal attendant and has since completed her Veterinary Nursing training and is continuing her studies. Outside of work Jamie enjoys socialising with her family and friends. Jamie has a cat named Tootsie and best friends, Jimmy the Galah and Connie the Labrador and her newest addition, a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Marli.

Kasey Benjamen

Kasey joined the team in early 2023 as a veterinary nurse, having recently moved from Lithgow. Kasey currently lives in Running Stream and enjoys playing with her pets.

Ella Quarmby

Trainee Nurse

Ella joined us in 2021 for school-based work experience and was such a great fit she formally joined the MVH team in February 2022, as a trainee. Ella has completed her Certificate II in Animal Studies and is continuing her education. Ella enjoys working with small and large animals with a special interest in helping care for hospitalised and emergency cases. In her spare time, Ella enjoys horseriding and spending time with her friends and family.

Account Manager

Simone has worked for Mudgee Veterinary Hospital since 1990. She has a certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has progressed over the years into Account Management. Simone enjoys spending time with her friends, family and her two kelpies Jess and Dolly.

Jaz Smith

Receptionist

Jaz has worked in the veterinary industry for the past five years and joined us in January 2022 after making the move to Mudgee. Jaz has always been surrounded by animals, growing up with a mixture of both large and small animals. Jaz spends her spare time renovating her new home, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.

Kellie McLean

Kellie McLean

Receptionist

After moving back from Canada, Kellie started her new adventure with Mudgee Vet Hospital in 2023. With a Bachelor degree in Animal Science and over 10 years experience in the animal industry, Kellie has a passion for pets and people. Outside of work, Kellie likes to horseride and spend time with family and friends. Her dog Blitz is usually along for the ride.
